Continue Your Workouts Indoors with the CycleOps Fluid² Trainer

Many cyclists live in areas where there are four seasons. This means that there are months where the weather will prohibit an outdoor ride. There are also times when it is just too dark to safely ride outside. There also may be times when you would like to ride with no interruptions. You can just get on your trainer and go without the relays involved with the road.  This is why a resistance trainer like the CycleOps Fluid² Indoor Trainer is needed to continue your cycling workouts. Indoor trainers don’t limit your cycling workouts; you are using your own bike riding in place.

The CycleOps Fluid² Indoor Trainer is the best-selling trainer in the USA. It is built with 100% recyclable, non-rusting materials, and is made in the USA. It comes with a lifetime warranty and has adjustable footpads for sturdy setup. The CycleOps Fluid² Indoor Trainer uses fluid generated resistance, which makes it very quiet and a consistent feel while riding.

What type of resistance Does the trainer have and how to adjust it?

The CycleOps Fluid² is a fluid trainer. The resistance is created when you pedal harder and the fluid heats up and becomes harder to push through. The resistance changes based on how hard you pedal the bike. There is no resistance knob or adjuster. You just change the gears on your bike like you would on the road. This is why fluid trainers provide the most realistic riding feel. They also provide a lot of resistance.

Is the CycleOps Fluid² Indoor Trainer easy to assemble?

There is some assembly required which takes about 10 min.

Is it easy to set up?

There are two things to adjust when hooking up your bike. First, you have to lock the wheel into place. You are provided with a skewer to lock into the trainer. Lock the skewer in place and tighten the adjustments with the slider and screw. Unscrew the tread side to fit the wheelbase of your bike. Tighten the washer to lock it in place. Make sure the threaded side is aligned with the skewer for a solid fit. Then pull the lever down to lock everything into place. Make sure this is tight. The last step is to adjust the tension on the yellow clutch knob on the trainer. You need to get it tight enough so the wheel does not slip.

You only have to do this once per bike. Then it will be easy to flip it down to remove the bike and up to put it on.

How do you track your speed and cadence on a trainer?

You need to buy the accessories that work with your Cycling GPS Unit such as a Garmin. These accessories are a speed and cadence tracker and a heart rate monitor.

The speed sensor attaches to either wheel and self-calibrates with your Cycling GPS Unit to give you accurate speed and distance.

The cadence sensor fastens to your pedal and measures pedal strokes per minute so you can get the most out of your training.

The heart rate monitor is also important to train effectively. You need to first know your resting heart rate. Then you can use your heart rate to determine the ideal intensity for your workouts.
